About My Work
My Experience
I have been writing front-page features on all manner of subjects for decades- from award-winning coverage of the 2017 fires in Northern California to profiles of artists, politicians, organizations and events, I have developed an ability to listen deeply and provide a mirror into a subject's unique world. I love doing research into a subject's company or background, and am praised for my rapid turnaround and ability to connect the reader to the subject.
My Work History
For the past 17 years I worked closely with my home newspaper, the Ukiah Daily Journal as a freelance writer. During that time, I also had work published in HuffPost, photos in Rolling Stone, a story in partnership with Guardian UK reporter Ed Vulliamy and many more. I had a 12-year contract with the Mendocino Travelers Guide as an assistant editor until the publisher retired in 2020. I have written over a million words and over a thousand stories, along with providing photographs for the bulk of them. Today I am a staff reporter for the Media News Group. My work is featured regularly in the Ukiah Daily Journal, the Fort Bragg Advocate-News, the Mendocino Beacon and other MNG affiliates who wish to publish my stories. In addition, I have written too many personnel policies, grants, public service announcements and press releases to mention.
